FoxMeadowMarket.com:  Horse Blanket Sizing Information

How do I measure my horse for a blanket or sheet?  Believe it or not, blanket and rug fitting doesn't have to be complicated! To help you find just what you need, we have put together a simple guide to getting just the right fit.

Several factors are important when choosing a blanket:

Horse Blanket Measutements

Horses vary in size and shape, even though they may be the same height at the withers, a proper fit is of utmost importance to remain secure and safe, as well as, to prevent rubbing and slipping. To make sure the blanket is comfortable and safe you will need to take measurements of your horse.

Measure your horse with a soft measuring tape from the center of the horse's chest (A), across the point of the shoulder (B), down the widest part of the horse's side and around the horse's hip to the edge of the tail (C).

If your horse is between sizes, round down to the nearest size. Usually, blankets are generous in their sizing, and run in three inch increments from size 57 to 90. So, for example, if your horse measures 76" from (A) to (C) you will usually need a 75" blanket.

The top line of your blanket should fit in front of the horse's withers to the dock (top of tail).

When we know that a manufacturer tends to run larger or smaller than average, there will be a note on the product display page. And as always, if something you order does not fit properly we will be happy to exchange or return it in accordance with our Returns Policy.
